Making the Most of the Rest of Your Life

by John Chapman

John Chapman writes:

'I am 76 years old. You may think it strange that I am writing about making the most of the rest of our lives. Humanly speaking, I don't have all that much left. The average male lives for 79 years. That doesn't give me much time.

On the other hand, if there is life after death, if eternity is really eternity and I have the greater bulk of my life to look forward to, then that makes all the difference. If there is life after death, is it possible to make the most of it? Is it possible to prepare for that life, or is it totally a matter of chance? These are the questions I want to address in this short book.'

This is a warm-hearted, good-humoured and challenging evangelistic book for ‘seniors’. It explains how we can know about life after death, what the new creation will be like, and whether we can be sure of being part of it.

Staff Review:

This short book tackles the issue of life after death and what is the best thing that we can do to prepare for it. Although the book is marketed at an “older generation”, I think that the contents of this book are important for everyone and applicable to everyone. John Chapman’s writing is very readable and easy to understand and I would thoroughly recommend it to non-Christians wanting to know more about the Christian faith. After an introduction in chapter one, the second chapter acts as a mini Bible overview which leads into Chapman using Mark’s gospel and Revelation to show us the New Creation and how fantastic it will be. Chapter 4 is the real challenge, the “what will you do now?” question that should get people really thinking about whether they are prepared to face God who will judge all sins.

This book is brilliant! It is great to hand out to friends and family who aren’t yet Christians to give them an overall picture of the Bible and really challenge them into facing the problem of sin, but I would also recommend it to anyone of any age and at any stage in their Christian life as a useful recap on the basic doctrines of our faith.
